FAKEAWAY FRIDAY: vegan mushroom shawarma with homemade flatbread, carrot fries and tzatiki 🌯🍟🌱 honestly recreating a Lebanese restaurant dish I love SO much (shout out @lebaneat.durham) their shawarma wraps are to die for 🤤 buuuut managed to recreate it at home for my second and it was 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 and so quick n easy too – even the homemade flatbreads !!! Recipe below (dm me for the carrot fries recipe as a lot to write out) 🥕
🌯 mushroom shawarma wrap recipe 🌯 serves 1
– 150g portobello and oyster mushrooms • 2 garlic cloves, chopped • half a red onion • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika • 1/4 tsp cumin • 1/4 tsp coriander • 1tbsp oil •
FOR THE FLATBREAD: 100g bread flour • 1/2tsp baking powder • 50ml water • 1tbsp oil • 1/4 tsp salt •
– fry the garlic and onion in the oil till soft, add in the mushrooms along with all the spices and a good amount of salt and pepper
– cook till soft then serve in flatbreads with hummus or tzatiki 🥰
FOR THE FLATBREAD: whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt then make a well and add in the oil and water and mix
– knead about 10 times till smooth then pop in a bowl covered with a towel and set aside for 10 mins
– heat some oil in a pan, roll out your dough to 1/4inch thickness then add in the pan and cook till golden
